Welcome to the 2010 Gamebird Food Festival

Sample picThe 2010 Gamebird Food Festival is an opportunity for New Zealand hunters and their friends to dine on gourmet dishes created by some of country’s most renowned chefs, using their own gamebird catch.

You supply the bird and festival chefs will prepare a feast.

During the gamebird hunting season, festival restaurants spread throughout New Zealand create special gamebird dishes so you can celebrate your hunting skills while seeing what top chefs do with this delicious meat.

Just call a participating festival restaurant from the list and let them know that you want to dine on your gamebirds. The restaurant will discuss your dining options with you.

On this website you will also find gamebird recipes that show hunters the true value of New Zealand’s wild gamebirds.

Now in its 5th year, the Gamebird Food Festival is an initiative of Fish & Game NZ to promote responsible, licensed hunting and the value of gamebirds as a natural and desirable food.

The festival runs concurrent with the gamebird hunting season, from 2 May to 27 June 2010.

Latest news update - 22 June

We are very pleased to announce The Palms in Otago has joined the list of participating restaurants.
